frequently asked questions
Do you travel?
Certainly. Included in the basic package is mileage of 100 miles. Any mileage over and above this is charged accordingly and, in the case of considerable extra travel, an accommodation fee may also be applicable. Please contact us for further details. As an example though, our current charge to cover a wedding in Aberdeen is £150 which includes excess mileage and two nights modest accommodation.
To date Creative Wedding Films have produced wedding video’s in Aberdeen, Elgin, Bute, Berwick-Upon-Tweed, Inverness, Perth and even Belfast and Yorkshire to name but a few.
Is Videography your full-time job?
Yes. I have been involved in video production for the past eight years and have worked for broadcasters including Sky and the BBC on both current affairs and live events. As well as wedding videos, I also produce corporate video from time to time.
Do you have any relevant qualifications?
I studied hands-on video production for two years at college before going into the professional broadcast sector. Along with my HND in video production I have also qualified in Professional Wedding Videography and hold a Master Membership of the Institute of Videography.
I’m worried about the camera being too ‘in your face’.
This is certainly a valid concern. I wouldn’t like it either. To achieve our style I make sure that I am in the background as much as possible. Also, I wont be moving around during the ceremony. Many people have commented on how unobtrusive I am. Please take a look at our testimonial section for examples of this.
Furthermore, I will not set up shots unless you wish me to do so but, of course, feel free to give the camera a wave if you want to.
My friend has a camcorder. Can’t he/she do the video?
Yes they can. However, ask yourself how many of the other elements of your day are being done by relatives or friends. For example, would you trust a non-professional to take your photos. Probably not in most cases. Not to mention your friend or relative will be tied to a camera all day and will not be able to enjoy themselves as they normally would and could be easily distracted by catching up with friends.
To create a good wedding video, it takes a great deal of time and experience not to mention a heavy financial investment in quality equipment. There are so many elements to your wedding video to consider it would unwise to leave it the hands of an amateur.
I have something that I would like to see in the video but cannot see in your options.
No problem. Feel free to contact me and I’ll do my best to accommodate your request.
How long will it take to receive my finished DVD/Video?
During quieter times of the year, it takes two weeks. However, during peak times, delivery of the final product could take up to eight weeks.
Can I order copies after the wedding?
Of course. We will hold the final DVD files on hard disc should you require any extra copies.
How do I book?
Simply contact us if you wish to book and the relevant documents will be sent out you.
I have some other questions. Can I contact you?
Certainly. Just go to the contact section and either e-mail me or phone the number day or night.
What kind of equipment do you use?
In short, we shoot and edit your video using the highest quality digital equipment to ensure a final product that looks and sounds as close to it did on the day.
For those of you who are interested, we use Sony Z7 High Definition video cameras and lightweight Sony radio mics to capture your big day. For post-production and editing we use Final Cut Pro running on Apple Mac Pro workstations.
Although advances in technology have allowed many more people to shoot adequate video, a lack of professional experience and creative flair often results in a poor quality end product. While we are happy to let you know exactly what equipment we use, we would prefer that you based your decision to commission a wedding video on the end product rather than being distracted by technical jargon.
